FALL OUT BOY - dammit...

O.K., this is the band. I thought it was Papa Roach before...but nope...it's these guys. Anybody familiar with them? Anybody here think that the song "Sugar We'
re Going Down Swingin'" could easily be Steevi Jaimz??? I swear to God, everytime I hear that song, I am almost convinced that Steevi could be HUGE in this world with the proper radio play. The voice of the Fall Out guy is almost identical at times, in delivery and in sound.

It's a great song, and the more I do hear of that band, I am wondering why so many people tear them to shreads. Good playing, nice hooks, cool voice. I just bought the CD, so I'll mention more after I have listened to it.

Does sound a bit like Jaimz, upon another listen. I think I prefer Dance, Dance, personally.

Take this to your grave is also a great album from fall out boy. I'm going to go see them play the Backyard in austin, when I finally get settled and all moved in, in a couple of weeks. If i do end up going then perhaps I'll do a review of their show...

If and when you do decide to get into this kind of music, another couple of great bands to get into would be Silverstein, Matchbook Romance, Rise Againsts, etc etc etc

When I first heard Fall Out Boy I thought it was Less Than Jake without the horns. The singer sounds really similar to LTJ's vocalist. Then I saw that they are signed by Fueled By Ramen, which was started by LTJ's drummer. It's funny a lot of the music that is in this vein, and some of the hardcore emo stuff that is becoming really big was totally out of vogue 3-4 years ago.

Lycan, that totally reminds me of my buddy's band Daggermouth. I laughed my ass off when I read the song titles on the CD. When I listened to the songs the titles were completely not related to the lyrics.

<font size="4" face="Arial">what world it that? everyone i talk to seems to think they are great, they are on the cover of every magazine it seems and win all types of awards. i know last year at two warped tour shows fall out boy's crowd rivaled the crowd that gathered for my chemical romance maybe even being bigger. i personally think they are really good and live they put on a great show. i would recommend checking them out if they come around your area.

another really good band out there right now is From First to Last. they have a new album coming out soon but their last one (Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Bodycount) is very good. they were another band that put on a great show on Warped last year.

<font size="4" face="Arial">there are some really good bands out there right now but unfortunately for every good band there are about 50 'hey lets sign this band because they have the look, we'll have someone write one catchy song for them, milk them for all we could and then dump them' bands too. kinda like the late 80s early 90s big hair/glam scene =)

It just seems that everywhere I turn there is a joke about them. I've even seen jokes about them in comic strips for crying out loud! LOL! They are usually one of those "well, atleast you didn't say you like Fall Out Boy" types of jokes or "they're better than Fall Out Boy...but that's not saying much" bands. That was the only exposure I had to them. Then one day my sister made one of those comments, and I asked her what the story was with them, and she just said they are the standard "cookie cutter" Emo band.

Whatever. I admit, their lyrics are pretty sad in an "overly melodramatic to the point of making Morrisey look downright happy" style. I can't relate to some of them, and the lyrics are quite the contradiction to the silly song titles.

Whatever again. They have some nice hooks, some good musicianship (that you say they back up live, which is nice), and the voice I like a bunch at times. They seem to be more of the Dag Nasty style than many of these other bands out there now, so they get those points from me. Doubt I will chase too many of these bands down though. They make the milk in my Apple Jacks turn sour.
